I have cooking fatigue from lockdown and decided to have a ready meal...now we know most ready meals are bland, small portion and gross but there are some gems out there....Sainsburys macaroni cheese chef's kiss

What are your favourites you would recommend?

Sainsbury's Katsu curry 😋

PrincessHoneysuckle · 10/05/2020 18:07

Anything from M&S

Ricekrispie22 · 10/05/2020 18:14

I haven’t had it for a while but Sainsbury's taste the difference chicken tikka masala is amazing. Juicy chicken and the sauce is nice, creamy and tomatoey.
M&S gastropub cottage pie is also worth paying that little bit extra for. Not too heavy, great mash and the meat is tasty. A really proper pie.

No ham cocks here, but we are very fond of all of the Charlie Bigham ready meals.

NotMyUsualNameNoSiree · 10/05/2020 18:31

Can't go wrong with the Waitrose Indian meal for £10.

MamaGothel · 10/05/2020 18:32

Tesco's chicken enchiladas are really nice!

WinWinnieTheWay · 10/05/2020 18:35

Marks and Spencer Lasagne. Despite being able to cook ragu and bechamel perfectly well, I never make my own lasagne. It's something I keep in the freezer with garlic bread to have with salad and a glass of wine when I can't be arsed to cook.

FlooredBeneath · 10/05/2020 18:38

Waitrose Thai takeaway bags. We have no local Thai restaurant but we do (for now) have a local Waitrose. It's the best I can do atm....I might pop there tomorrow when I go out for veggies Grin

loutypips · 10/05/2020 18:38

The Waitrose Indian meals are lush. Or m&s 3 for £7 pasta and risotto dishes.
I do love the lidl lasagna though, or Aldi finest cottage pie. Hungry now!

Marks and Spencer's ham cock in mustard sauce

Literally just Laughed Out Loud at that.

NameChange84 · 10/05/2020 19:13

I really enjoy the M&S Breaded or Tempura Chicken that you bung in the oven with either some home or ready made egg fried or micro rice and a bowl of ready made salad.

Would agree their lasagnes are good too.

Yes to Charlie Bighams.

If you’ve a Booths near you they do great ready to cook from fresh and traditional style ready meals.

Terralee · 10/05/2020 19:25

For a quick filling meal I like Uncle Ben's microwave rice especially the Spicy Mexican which has kidney beans, sweetcorn & peppers in. £1 per 2 portion pack in Tesco at present.
I usually open the pack & split the rice into 2 bowls to make myself 2 meals of it.
Cooks for 2 mins approx then I add tuna, low fat cheese or baked beans for extra protein for example. And maybe some salad veg.

AtleastitsnotMonday · 10/05/2020 20:19

I really like the Sainsbury’s Roasted cauliflower and butternut squash dhal from their Love your veg range! And unlike most ready meals it’s not that bad for you!

PickAChew · 10/05/2020 20:35

Markses best ever chicken tikka masala or chicken with pstatas bravas.

Waitrose nasi goreng, if you like it hot.

Had sainsburys TTD paella for dinner, tonight, which was a nice change.

PickAChew · 10/05/2020 20:41

That is delicious, @AtleastitsnotMonday

Agree that waitrose curries are fantastic. The sides are excellent and really varied. If I get a meal deal I include aloo gobi saag, if they have it, and top it with a fried egg for my lunch. I'm looking forward to being able to visit waitrose again, one day.
