Trying to remember a “One Song to the tune of Another”

I’m just remembering that when I first met my husband a quarter of a century ago we were in Eastern Europe so no Internet and very very limited media. I told him about “one song to the tune of another” and I think it involved either the laughing policeman or when I’m cleaning windows and then he fell about laughing - and of course things were so much funnier in those days because you kept thinking about the idea but you couldn’t google it. So you kept turning it over and over in your mind and it got funnier the longer it stayed there. then years later we actually heard it and I’m pleased to say it was as funny as I have described. but now I forgotten about it and it’s a memory I’d like to retrieve

Can anyone remember this?

Alternative suggestions for your favourite One song to the tune of another are welcome

From I'm sorry I haven't a clue? I loved many of these and am so sad about lovely Tim Brooke-Taylor and his dreadful voice

I laughed like a drain at this!

The best ones were always when it was a frivolous song with daft lyrics (like Laughing Policeman) to a more 'traditional' tune. I can't remember any specific ones but it was always one of the funniest parts of the show.

You can get compilations of ISIHAC on CDs.

aha, it was Barry Cryer singing "My Old Man's a Dustman" to the tune of "Heartbreak Hotel"
