Where's best for summer clothes (age 7-8)

DSD needs new new summer clothes and we would normally go for a girls shopping day when she needs some new clothes as she knows roughly the sort of things she would like but we tend to have to try things on as she's so tall.

DSD has turned 6 in isolation and now 4 foot 2 but her 6-7 and some 7-8 are not fitting right anymore. Her age 8 swimsuit is very tight on her shoulders because as well as long legs, she's a long torso Smile I do normally have to nip in some of her dresses because she's very athletic so whilst she's the height of a 8 year old, she's not the width or frame.

So please MN, with the shops closed can you recommend some online boutiques/small businesses we could support or even high street brands which don't go to pot after a wash or two. I've looked at Matalan, Zara and H&M but all have approx 2 week+ delivery time or not much choice for 7-8/8-9. I've found some instagram boutiques but most go up to age 5-6.

DSD would like a new denim skirt, Jean shorts, floaty dresses, gym leggings/sports top, some tees, matching co-ord and swimsuit for the paddling pool.

Thanks in advance!

Next will have loads of choice and different brands too.

@WinWinnieTheWay Hadn't thought of Next as I forgot they have added external brands but I'll look there now.

We got lots of boys 5-6 in the Debenhams sale. Most of it came in a couple of days, although one t shirt came a week later.

Tesco. Although not online.

I got a couple of things from M&S, click and collect in a couple of days.

I was going to recommend H&M

happypotamus · 09/05/2020 17:06

Not H&M. DD1 has outgrown all her summer clothes, so we spent ages looking at their website choosing stuff. She wanted loads so my sisters gave her money for her birthday towards it. It came in just under 2 weeks (that's ok, they had warned me it would be 10-14 days), but with no warning or explanation had cancelled most of the order so she only got 3 items out of 11. She cried because that was her birthday presents and she had spent so long choosing, and she still has no summer clothes.

We got some emergency bits on Tesco today, it wasn't advertised outside (maybe they're not currently allowed?) but once you got inside, absolutely all clothes were 50% off!

Misty9 · 09/05/2020 17:12

I've just got dd, aged 6, some stuff from white stuff and I've been impressed with the quality and also liked that they don't have a huge range to choose from.

NuzzleandScratch · 09/05/2020 17:24

John Lewis?

LER83 · 09/05/2020 17:45

For my 7 year old it's a mixture of Next, H&M, Tu at Sainsbury's, Monsoon and Debenhams. I really like the £2.99 dresses from H&M.

Inapickleortwo · 09/05/2020 17:47

Thank you all for the recommendations! I've said we will look on my laptop together in the morning whilst her dad has a lie in.

It's a shame Tesco stopped their online clothes ordering - would be ideal if they've 50% off as I predict another growth spurt shortly

I walked through the childrens' clothes area at Morrisons today (deignated route to the tills) & there were some really lovely girls summer clothes there. I've bought them for GC before & have been impressed with the quality.

Thjere is more in store than online, if you can get to one.

Homemadearmy · 09/05/2020 18:03

Gap, I got my gd some lovely stuff from there are there are always discount codes. But I don't know what they're delivery times are at the moment

flouncymcflouncerson · 09/05/2020 18:19

I’d say next and even asda George or river island would be good

NotaFreeloader · 09/05/2020 18:21

If we get new clothes for dc it’s usually from Tesco Asda or h and m and I’ve been impressed they’ve washed well and we’ve kept them for younger siblings and they are good quality

bluestarsatnightfall · 09/05/2020 18:22

Next, H&M and Morrison's have some really nice things in.

Inapickleortwo · 09/05/2020 18:31

I hadn't looked on Morrison's before but I've found a few bits I know she'd like including a blue co-ord and a nice denim jacket. Thanks everyone!

H & M - lots of choice and designs and free postage at the moment

Found the recent Tesco stuff terrible quality for kids - washed joggers once and they have went terribly bobbled
