Ebay reserve not met low they’ve taken reserve off

Can anyone help? I made a bid on an ebay item but it didn’t make the reserve so after double checking that I wouldn’t have to end up paying even though I hadn’t made reserve I then made an offer on another similar item from a different seller and won it.
Now looking at the one that made a bid but didn’t make reserve on has now removed the reserve does that mean I’ll have to buy it if there’s no other bidders? I don’t want it now! So worried I’m going to have to pay and don’t have the money!
Hope I’ve explained this right, anyone know if I’ll have to pay?? Thanks

Have they relisted the item? There are things you cannot do with a listing once someone has made a bid.

Can you retract the bid and give your reason for doing so?

Emmy2020 · 08/05/2020 15:01

She messaged me and said she’d removed the reserve. Don’t think she’s relisted it.
I guess I could message her back and say as I hadn’t met reserve I got a different one and that I won’t want to bid on it anymore?
How do I retract a bid?

Look on ebay's help pages, it should tell you how to retract your bid. I have done it once, but I can't remember how! There were no repercussions.

Well you don't have to pay, nobody can force you to complete the sale regardless. I would just retract the bid though.

Ah thanks for your help guys! And replying so quick 😊
I think what I’ll do is message her now to explain the situation and why I bid on something else when I thought I hadn’t met reserve. Hopefully she will understand!

Phew! I messaged them, not sure if they’ve seen it but luckily I’ve been outbid on it!
