If I wanted a part of my garden levelled and turfed, who do I need to employ to do it?

Normal gardener? Landscape gardener? Handyman or someone else?

It’s a basic but tough job and I’m scratching my head about skill level and also who would do it.

If you want it doing properly then you need a landscape gardener.

Would they even consider something as basic as that though?

Gardeners look after plants and lawns.
Landscape gardeners look after the structure of the garden.

I'd suggest asking some landscapers, get some quotes, see how much they'd charge and what they could do etc.

It's not basic though. To level the garden they need to ensure that there aren't key services I. E. drains running just below the surface that need to be accommodated for a start. Depending on how much leveling needs to be done there may need to be retaining supports or run offs needed if there are walls or fences etc or if the gardens either side are higher than yours

It's not as straight forward as you think. Get the right person or you will regret it and end up paying a lot more to have it put right

Ok that’s reassuring. I do know there’s nothing near the surface which is a good start. I’ll make some phone calls, thanks.
