Dd 12 & 4 shares room- what sort of bed?

My dds have had to share a room for the last 2 years. Originally Dd 12 and ds 10 shared the room up until Dd turned 10.

Ds has his own small bedroom.

We can’t afford to buy a 4 bedroom in the area we live in yet, but hopefully in the next 5 years.

The girls don’t mind sharing atm. Dd4 normally plays downstairs/rarely in the room. Dd 12 normally chills downstairs in the evening when Dd is asleep or if she wants her own space she goes to our room.

They currently have bunk beds but it’s getting old and squeaky.

Their room isn’t massive but they have a bunk bed, chest of drawers, play kitchen and an Ikea side table cupboard thing in it.

I’m not sure if we should just get singles and have a lot less space?

Or Dd12 likes the look of this. Do you think this would be ok?

Ds has this bed and dd4 manages fine climbing up and down.

I was going to say you can get bunk beds with a double on bottom and single on top in Argos...

InFiveMins · 07/05/2020 08:26

Yep would be fine, I think Argos do these

Does she need a double bed? I'd probably stick with singles tbh to maximise space.

They do bunk beds with shelves and stuff that might work to give them space for all their 'bits'

Hi. I don't think bunk beds are recommended for children under six years. I would get a single for younger daughter and a cabin style single for the older daughter that has a desk and other storage.

The bunkbeds look the best to me, unless there's a specific need for a double

I wouldn’t put a double in a shared room. They’ll need as much space as they can get.
