If your budget was £200?

I spent a bit more than that and got Cartier cufflinks. They offered delivery during lockdown so it was perfect!

SummerintoAutumn · 06/05/2020 18:38

I bought my DH a steak stone for his 50th and he loved it.
Below your budget leaving money for posh booze.

Smoothyloopy · 06/05/2020 18:41

Just bought Star Wars lego for OH who's 50 next month.

HowFurloughCanYouGo · 06/05/2020 19:24

Is a steak stone something you put your steak on to eat?

What's the reason for them?

I have the same dilemma for my partners 50th and same budget.

blackteaplease · 06/05/2020 19:40

I got DH tickets to see the foo fighters for his 40th.

PuddleglumtheMarshWiggle · 06/05/2020 19:52

For his 50th I bought cufflinks which were made from old sixpenny coins. Both minted with the year he was born.
40th birthday was too long back for me to remember 😀

sweetkitty · 06/05/2020 20:04

Personal number plates then 39 other presents, some were crazy like his favourite teabags/Diet Coke/sweets/lottery ticket/ running socks/kids drew pictures and I framed them

itbemay1 · 06/05/2020 20:29

I've just bought a hammock for the garden (for me really!) and, some jo malone cologne, and a few other little bits. I've organised a local caterer to deliver afternoon tea for us all on the day. Lockdown big birthdays are a bit rubbish so I want to try and make it special

HowFurloughCanYouGo · 06/05/2020 20:56

My husband wouldn't make use of anything like this.

He doesn't wear suits of cologne.

He's a builder who likes to go to the gym.
He's so difficult to buy for 😭

Didn’t buy him anything, but did a surprise dinner party at home with oldest, dearest friends, some came from overseas.

Maypole245 · 06/05/2020 21:02

If he likes the gym, does he have a particular goal? Could you pay for some targeted personal training (or a voucher for that when lockdown ends)?

CurlsandCurves · 06/05/2020 21:12

I got DH a titanium wedding ring with a small diamond on the band for just over £200.

Back story his original wedding ring is 18 carat gold but like your DH he’s a tradesman and within months realised it was going to get ruined. So he removed it. For our first anniversary I got him a cheap as chips ring to wear. But many years on by the time we got to his 40th, said cheap ring was completely out of shape. So I got him the titanium one.

4 years on and it’s still in good shape.

MilkNoSugars · 06/05/2020 21:16

DP bought himself a new road bike for his 40th and told me it was my present to him 😆

I arranged caterers to do a dinner at ours for 14 of us to celebrate. Was fab- no cooking and no washing up after!

SummerintoAutumn · 08/05/2020 20:44

With a steak stone you heat the stone and bring it to the table. You then cook your steak with the heat of the stone at the table.

HowFurloughCanYouGo · 08/05/2020 20:53

thanks

Any other tips anyone...?

I got DH a hand made watch strap. He chose the leather and the colour of the stitching. Had considered a leather wallet too.

weepingwillow22 · 08/05/2020 21:08

My OH likes cooking and appreciated a set of global knives for his 40th.

HowFurloughCanYouGo · 09/05/2020 06:32

Oh they look cool, the global knives.

HowFurloughCanYouGo · 09/05/2020 06:51

I've just emailed the @WeMarchOn, I can't see prices for 1 day, they only have a price for a multi package.

However, I think you might have helped me very very much.

He would love this.
