is it a bank holiday for the NHS on Friday?

Just realised it’s a bank holiday on Friday. The Easter bank holidays were made into normal working days for the NHS, is the same happening to this bank holiday?

Just curious as it would be great if DH was at home for an extra day this week, of course I will ask him when he gets home but perhaps someone here has the information for me as google didn’t.

I wouldn't have thought so. There are lots of jobs where you don't have the specific Bank Holiday days off, but may well get days off elsewhere instead.

It couldn't be a Bank Holiday for the whole of the NHS as they aren't going to close hospitals and emergency services for it.

My question was a bit unclear.

Lots of NHS staff eg those who work in GP practises, admin staff etc get Bank Holidays as routine. The last lot of bank holidays were cancelled for all staff so it was an ordinary working day. Wondering if the same is happening again this week.

Depends what he does? I know some admin staff in the NHS who have Friday off as a bank holiday.

Or to be clearer - bank holidays are normally like weekends in terms of who works them. At Easter they were made ordinary working days. No idea which it is this week. I’ll ask DH when he comes home!

My dh is a Dr he will be working Friday. I can’t see clinical staff having a day off.

our local GP practices have all advised that they will be open as normal on Friday. Thank you to all those working extra days.

I work in the NHS. Easter was declared a normal working day due to covid. Our trust has allowed this bank holiday and annual leave again if it helps answer your question :)

GP here - we are open on Friday, all bank holidays have been cancelled. We were open Good Friday and Easter Monday and likely to be open the end of May BH

He’s a doctor so I shall continue to assume he’s at work on Friday. Thanks.

At my trust it's the same as a normal bank holiday. Those who would normally not work over the bank holiday are not working. We did work over the Easter weekend.

GP- we are open on Friday as usual. Very glad I’m on leave
