Niche thought, but just wondering what the pickpockets are up to now?

In places like central Lisbon and Rome, there are communities for whom pickpocketing is virtually a career. Just wondering how they’ve diversified, or not, in these times.
Anyone in the know, know anything?

I don't know but, judging by local Facebook posts, the thieves round here are stealing bikes.

Yes we’ve had a spate of that.
