Michael Ball was really quite attractive wasn't he?

I'm watching the Andrew Lloyd Webber birthday concert from 1998 whilst doing the ironing, and there was just something about him... the way he looked at Sarah Brightman made me feel a bit weak at the knees!

Antonio Banderas was also a nice surprise, and a good singer, although I'm not convinced that the Phantom should sound quite so Spanish. Cracking as Che though.

Donny Osmond is very handsome too.

Michael Ball's never done anything for me.

Antonio Banderas on the other hand...…..😍

Bluntness100 · 03/05/2020 17:21

Yes I thought Michael ball used to be attractive but he got a bit hamster cheeked. Defintely not osmond though. That’s not right,,😂

A girl I sat next to in school band had a massive thing for Michael Ball back in the day. Was completely obsessed by him. We all found it hilarious at the time. But he does have charisma and comes across as a genuinely nice human being, so maybe she wasn't so daft after all.

Hi Bernie if you're reading this! Grin

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 03/05/2020 17:30

I’m sure he’s a nice man but he really does nothing for me. Neither does Antonio Banderas. Or Donny Osmond...

eddiemairswife · 03/05/2020 17:32

He was rumoured at one time to be close to Prince Edward.

userxx · 03/05/2020 17:33

I was thinking of Michael Bolton 😬

Mkh873w · 03/05/2020 17:34

Is he dead?Shock

BalloonSlayer · 03/05/2020 17:35

The 10th Anniversary Les Mis concert is a good one to watch if you like a younger Mr Ball.

I always think he seems like such a nice chap.

On a different track, I watched Ghost for the first time since its release the other day. I never liked Patrick Swayze back then but i was struck by how good he was, the way he looks at Demi Moore he really does seem to love her. Aaaah!

Pemba · 03/05/2020 17:36

Gosh, I was admiring Donny Osmond and Antonio Banderos too! Both extremely handsome. But Michael Ball, no. He was singing something from Jesus Christ Superstar and as I said to DD 'He's just not very Jesus-y looking is he? Bless him.'
He has a bit of a chubby face and I just keep thinking of him in that play he did with Victoria Wood a few years ago. Brilliant singer though and seems a very nice bloke.

ellanwood · 03/05/2020 17:36

A friend of mine used to do musical youth theatre with Michael Ball when they were teenagers. She said he was very theatrical and confident and definitely had charisma even then.

iklboo · 03/05/2020 17:37

Oh gods, Antonio Banderas in Interview With A Vampire. Fanny gallops could have won the 3:15 at Ascot Grin

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 03/05/2020 17:48

I like him as Zorro ikl. We used to watch that as teens, me and DSis for him, and DB and DF for Catherine Zeta-Jones. Grin

I've got that concert on dvd. Get it out occasionally. While Michael Ball imo had/has that youthful look as does Donny Osmond, dimples always look cute too, but I can look at someone and think they are incredibly good looking, but I don't actually fancy them. Antonio Banderas? (Sp) does have those smouldering looks though. However, I am more drawn to Andrew Lloyd Webber out of all of them. Have to remember him when a 'who do you fancy' thread comes up! Also, back to that concert I thought Sarah Brightman was stunning, and I never before realised what a beautiful voice she had. Used to see her in a dance troupe on TOTP, back in the early 80's?

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 03/05/2020 18:07

He hasn't died Mk, I just think he was more attractive 20 years ago than he is now (sorry Michael!).

I like Michael Ball. He seems quite camp, but perhaps its the showbiz " jazz hands" thing going on Grin

CoolCarrie · 03/05/2020 18:14

Lowering the tone some what, but what the hell, I remember someone asking Sarah Brightman about ALW and she said he had a massive cock, might have been Graham Norton or Alan Carr who asked her.

ExpletiveDelighted · 03/05/2020 18:17

He seems like a a really nice bloke, but the sort you'd want to chat with rather than anything else.

Glenn Close stole the show for me. Loved the Julian Lloyd Webber piece as well. Sarah Brightman leaves me totally cold, despite having a stunning voice.

Myownwendyhouse · 03/05/2020 18:17

I saw him a few years ago in Chess. He was just amazing.

You've been in lockdown too long - I know what it's like, I think James Martin is beginning to look sexy and just think of all that lovely food ...

'Lowering the tone some what, but what the hell, I remember someone asking Sarah Brightman about ALW and she said he had a massive cock, might have been Graham Norton or Alan Carr who asked her'.

Erm, yes, I remember it well!
I was wondering if anyone else on thread knew about it.

CoolCarrie · 03/05/2020 22:04

Thank you Polka. I read that ALW was briefly going to sue her for the comments which is hilarious if true!

Gobbolinocat · 03/05/2020 22:29

Op yes.
I must admit it left me a bit disappointed that ALW thing however.. Dh found out the 25th anniversary of les miserable was on u tube the whole thing!
Now... MB in that
.... Very dishy Grin the

I found it a bit strange at first that it was a mixture of people in dresses or suits (or football shirt) , and fully costumed and acted bits. I suppose Starlight Express would have been a bit disappointing if they hadn't been on roller skates.

I wonder which one will go up next week. He promised Jeeves at some point didn't he?

I have one of the Les Mis anniversary concerts on DVD, I'll have to get it out one evening.
