I see southern fried chicken sold in the supermarkets which I've tried a couple of times but hasn't been quite right...

I know it's supposed to be top secret and everything bit has anyone managed to work out their own version which mirrors it?

This guy reckons he managed it. Looked like hard work. www.dailyrecord.co.uk/lifestyle/food-drink/perfect-kfc-recipe-man-spent-21835399

We get the big box of Tesco frozen southern fried chicken. Then the Mayflower Southern Fried gravy (powder) from B&Ms.

It's the closest we can get.

I think I've failed at step one as per the link as I don't have a deep fat fryer.

Darn!

I use a similar recipe to that one and shallow fry it. It tastes like southern fried chicken and is much nicer than supermarket stuff which tends to be breadcrumbed.
