Just thought we could add some good currently available family movies here as I really need some inspiration.

My DC 9 and 11 have enjoyed:

Five children and it
Aladdin
The Labyrinth (old but enjoyed!)

Race across the world

Holes! Bloody brilliant. Only watched it for the first time this week, and I can't believe we haven't seen it before it was so good.

The Iron Giant.

highlandcoo · 30/04/2020 22:38

The Princess Bride. Great for adults as well as children.

@DonLewis what is Holes about, what age is it suitable for?

It's a pg, we watched it with my 8 yo and 15 yo.

It's a story about a boy who is sent to a correctional facility and the punishment is digging holes. But it's one of those clever stories where there are connections and twists and turns. It's actually quite hard to describe. I was really impressed, which isn't easy. I normally hate kids films!

LutherRalph1 · 01/05/2020 07:41

Holes is great, we watched and read it in English class so at least 15 years ago and it was great back then

DonLewis · 01/05/2020 07:52

And it's on Disney plus atm

rosybell · 01/05/2020 07:59

Shazam was great, we all loved it.
Kubo and the two strings - really beautiful animation and a good story
Oldies like Hook, Mrs Doubtfire
Into the Spider verse
Spiderwick chronicles
Wimpy kids films

rosybell · 01/05/2020 08:05

Think the above are mostly on amazon/Netflix

strawberrie · 01/05/2020 08:06

Back to the Future
Indiana Jones
Paddington 1 and 2, 2 is better

Another vote or Shazam

@DonLewis Where did you watch Holes as my son is currently reading that for literacy? X

DonLewis · 01/05/2020 11:43

It's on Disney plus. You can get a free one month trial I think at the minute.

Montybojangles · 01/05/2020 22:29

Just watched Holes. Never heard of it before today. Loved it, thank you @DonLewis

poppinpink · 01/05/2020 22:37

We have watched, Aladdin, the lion king , maleficent2, onward, 4 children and it, lady and the tramp. DC are 7 and 8, always looking for something new to watch and running out of ideas.

Zisforstripyoss · 01/05/2020 22:40

My 9 and 5 year olds enjoyed Flubber tonight. They've already decided on Inspector Gadget for next week.

The Kid Who Would be King is also very good.

DonLewis · 01/05/2020 22:45

Ah, you're welcome @Montybojangles, I really loved it, not many family friendly films keep me entertained but that one sure did! Fab story.

Muddlingalongalone · 01/05/2020 22:47

My 9 year old loved The Parent Trap so much she's watched it again in the same week.

SunshineDays2019 · 01/05/2020 22:50

Cool runnings?

Beechview · 01/05/2020 22:53

The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind is a great film. It’s a bit different and based on a true story.

Notnownotneverever · 01/05/2020 22:54

Tomorrowland with George Clooney

Notnownotneverever · 01/05/2020 22:55

Evan Almighty

MegBusset · 01/05/2020 22:58

We're watching Dumb And Dumber (it's on Netflix). The kids (11 and 13, but first watched it a couple of years back) love it.

Namechangex10000 · 01/05/2020 23:00

Ooh this holes sounds good!!! I hope my two oldest haven’t seen it yet and it can be our movie tomorrow night!!!

All our kids love pitch perfect 1,2 and 3 and we regularly watch them as a family.

Bedtime stories (Adam sandler films tend to be a winner!)

Blended
Just go with it

I quite enjoyed z.o.m.b.i.e.s on Disney plus and I am sick to the back teeth of descendants but they are enjoyable!

Cool runnings?
Drop dead Fred?
