Anyone had a furlough pay cheque shock?

Today is the first pay day for a lot of people under the furlough scheme. The scheme is apparently a lot more complicated than it sounds and people have ended up with a lot less in their pay packet. Like, shockingly less. Has anyone else had a blood-draining-from-the-face moment today?

If you’ve received less than you’re entitled to, your employer has screwed up somewhere.

I’ve furloughed staff and had no problems at all, everyone was paid 80% of their basic wage, which I then claimed back from HMRC.

Are you salaried or hourly paid?

I put in furlough claims for 20 companies last week. It is pretty straight forward. You will get 80% of your salary up to a maximum of £2500. You will then get taxed etc on that amount. The furlough would be calculated on either the average monthly salary over the year or over the last 3 months (whichever is higher).

If you have got less than this then you need to raise it.

Dh was what we expected £2,500 - tax, ni and I can’t remember if they took his pension out of it.

Was a shock not seeing the normal amount in the bank account.

No idea what we will do once my savings run out 🤷‍♀️

Nope, mine was as expected.
