Will my friends dd still be admitted to a adolescent ward

She’s being admitted due to concerns for her safety. She’s turning 18 in three months though so is concerned that she may be put in our local adult unit. Im assuming they would still admit her to the children’s unit.

When I was a mental health Nurse the acute wards took patients officially.from 18 but in reality we sometimes had younger patients 16/17 there was one non secure adolescent unit and one secure adolescent unit for the very large mental health trust that I worked for so bed ,s were scarce .

If it’s mental health then yes, if there’s a bed. If not she may be admitted to an adult ward (if there’s a bed) with 1:1 support due to her vulnerability.
