Does anyone have both autism and ADHD?

I am hoping to get an autism assessment done. It has been declined for the moment until I provide further information even though I scored 9/10 on the test the doctor gave me. Anyway they have also sent me an ADHD questionnaire which I have filled in and realised I can tick off most off the questions as being an issue for me. Having looked into it quite a lot over the last few days I can see myself in a lot of the info on ADHD. Is it possible to really have both these conditions together? I wonder if anyone would be willing to share their experience of having both as right now I'm feeling really confused and would just like some answers.

My children are diagnosed with autism and adhd. I suspect I have both conditions. I know generally neurodiversity has many overlapping conditions.

There's much recent research (for example in Nature, which is as prestigious as it gets - www.nature.com/articles/s41398-019-0382-0 ) that suggests both are overlapping diagnoses/syndromes. So it would make sense that you could have both, or, put another way, that the same 1 underlying condition could come across as either.

Also, I don't know if you're a woman, but women get misdiagnosed so often, perhaps most of the time (bipolar, anxiety, eating disorder, ADHD) because autism looks so different in women than in men. There are loads of articles out there on this:

My son has both. The paediatrician said they often go hand in hand.

I was part of a diagnostic team before retirement. It’s not unusual for both Autism and ADHD to be co-morbid.
I have a dx of both.

Thank you for the replies so far.

The links in your post are very helpful zezet. I have read all but the nature article which I will hopefully read later tonight.
