Will how we have managed business wise be the way for the future?

I know of a company who were about to sign for a large office building who have changed their minds because having staff work from home has gone so well.

My husband runs a business and has always tried to employ local people so they can go to the office, but this has made him realise that people can work from their homes and don’t necessarily need to go into an office.

Obviously this depends of what the business is.

But is this the end to those people who have to fly off to Timbuctu for meetings? I hope so, it can all be done on Zoom or similar.

Hopefully. Saving thousands of pounds on commuting (and hours of time each week) is a massive benefit to staff, which in turn has a positive impact on the company (better retention, wellbeing, environmental impact) not to mention saving on office rents. I think many companies will use this as an opportunity to change the way they work. Those who don’t will find themselves behind when it comes to recruiting the best staff.

We have already been told our wfh policy will be updated to be much more flexible as all of us being at home has worked so well. Personally I have no desire to go back to the office ever again
