Buying a car help - private seller delivery

I have bought all but my last car through private sellers but all very local so I can judge the area and seller pretty accurately.

Now I’ve seen the car I want on Gumtree but it’s in west London. It’s a great price for the year. The specific car I’m looking for seems to come up a lot in London car dealers and a lot of them are this neck of the woods.. I messaged the seller and he answered it was available but it was his dads, who would be in all day and gave me a mobile number to call him.
So I’m thinking son us helping his dad out so must be older, self isolated or something.
Phoned up the dad who was clearly neither. In fact he came across as a car dealer if I’m honest. Same patter as the garages give you. Then he offered to deliver the car.
So I know garages do offer this but never heard of a private seller doing it. How’s he getting back if I buy it? I’ve checked the MOT online and it’s fine ( and recent)/. I want the car but I’m not convinced by the seller.
Any advice or thoughts?

WAlk away.

It sounds like a car dealer (trader) trying to evade tax by selling 'privately'.

It could even be a scam.

Sounds dodgy, leave it.

Always think if I can’t trust the seller to even be honest about who they are then I’m damned if I’m trusting them to sell me something like a car. That’s enough for me. If you need any more than that then obv buying privately doesn’t afford you anything like the same protection as bouton from a business anyway.
