How do I activate a new bank card from home?

I don’t have telephone banking, and I don’t know if there’s a way to do this. Does anyone know how you activate a new debit card?

As mentioned above, my Barclays bank card was cancelled for security reasons and the new one has the same pin and didn't need activating. This was only last week, so hopefully OP it will be very straightforward.

Hi there, I’m a bit worried since it has been a week now and I still don’t have a bank card… I really am thinking about going to get an emergency card… If I don’t have it by Monday, I might have to go into the bank and ask for an emergency card. Will they do this? I don’t want to make the trip for nothing, but I really am stuck now.

OP, there WILL be a local group of volunteers in your area willing to help. Ask someone to look on facebook or similar if you can't. You should also be ok to call the official NHS volunteers and make a request; 0808 196 3646.

Still no card… I’m about to go into the bank and ask if they will just make an emergency card. I’ve been on the phone for ages waiting for somebody to pick up…

This is ridiculous.

Absolutely nothing came in the mail today either… It was sent out last Thursday. So it’s now been a week and a day.

They don't usually need activating. However, you can't use the contactless until you've used the PIN

Big Sandy, do you know if the branches of the bank are open right now… What time are they usually closing? I think I’m going to have to go down there. I still don’t have a card and I’m really really having a problem without one…

Banks are definitely open but not all branches I googled Barclays and it showed me which branches were still open near me as half are shut. If you want to private message me the twin you live in I could look it up for you?

Aldi I finally got someone on the phone at Barclays. Yes, my local branch is closed. I will have to go to another branch tomorrow, but she said to go in and explain the situation and get a temporary card. I really can’t be without a bank card.
