Have you noticed a change in supermarket workers customer service?

I know they are working really hard at the moment but the past couple of times I have been in the supermarket I've been shocked at how rude the staff are being to customers.

Obviously not all of them.

For example I asked someone where an item was as I couldn't find it anywhere. Their reply was ' I don't know' and that was it. This is someone who has worked in this shop for a good few years.

I tried to clean my trolley with the spray and cloth provided and a member of staff shouted at me that it's already been cleaned. I hadn't seen them do it and had already sprayed the handle bar so continued to wipe it so they tutted and shook their head.

This is just to name a few.

I get it that they are all overworked and tired but its bad when people haven't been out for weeks and when they do they get talked to with little respect.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Had to venture to Morrisons this week as couldn't get my baby's vests online quick enough. He seemed to grow inches overnight! Also needed calpol, milk etc.

I went to go down the aisle and a worker told me I couldn't as I would be crossing the people queuing up for the tills.

I asked her why, as there were still be 2 m she just said I couldn't. I asked how else I get to the aisle , she just shrugged her shoulders. So I looked at the man I would be crossing, and asked him to take a pace back so I may cross. He did. I got my vests. Social distancing was adhered to.

There were way to many people in the shop and I couldn't go down certain aisles as there were so many people ! So they police by the tills but not the rest of the store.

I am very grateful for all of the supermarket workers, apart from that one incident everyone else has been so wonderful and I make a point of thanking them.

The staff in my local Lidl have always been lovely, very pleasant and helpful. They remain so. The staff in my local Asda have always been rude, inappropriate and unhelpful. They’ve gotten worse. Some of them are also full of shit Grin I was in Asda tonight and witnessed a staff member approach a customer who was being aggressive to the self service machine. Banging it etc. Staff member asked them to stop, said they would damage it etc, all perfectly appropriate. Then a few minutes later I was in the next aisle and the same staff member approached another staff member bragging about how there’ll probably be another complaint made about her tonight as she had to bollock customer then proceeded to lie about both what the customer was doing and about what she said to them. Claiming to have said some really rude things to them and making herself out some sort of fearless hard nut Grin idiot!

We have the most miserable woman in our local store - before Covid she was miserable and now she’s even worse. I either think she’s mentally ill or depressed either way not much to say or do. I go to self service but she’ll still snatch the basket off you or moan about the way you’re packing your shopping! I find in most stores they are either extra extra nice and cheery or miserable as sin definitely no inbetween
