I'm being really dim, can someone help me clarify this refund policy??

My parents booked a premier inn and now need to cancel .
They don't do the internet very well or any social media at all.
Most computer stuff gets bounced to us.

I've tried getting clarification from PI via FB, but they can't help because I'm not named on the booking. Keep repeating the same paragraphs.

But I'm still a little unclear.

^If they have a Flex rate bookings, they will be able to cancel up to 1pm on the date of arrival.

If they have a Non-Flex or Semi-Flex booking for arrival before 31st May 2020, they will be able to cancel and receive a full refund. The cancellation must be made by 23:59 the day prior to arrival.

If they have a Non-Flex or Semi-Flex booking for arrival after 31st May 2020, they will be able to amend the booking to an alternative date. The amendment must be made by 23.59 the day prior to the their arrival.^

They have non flex, are PI saying they can cancel and get a refund?

Thanks

Although according to this:

www.premierinn.com/gb/en/faq/cancelling-or-amending.html

As non-flex no refund and no amendment.

Fairylillie · 26/04/2020 11:36

They can change their booking to an alternative date, they can't have a refund.

That's the downside of choosing the cheapest room rate, the cheaper the room the more restrictions there are on it.

Kerberos · 26/04/2020 11:40

If I was them I'd hang fire until the last moment. There's a chance that the cancellation clause mightbecome available for their dates. There's a risk they'll reopen by then but your parents can make an informed decision .

CathyorClaire · 26/04/2020 11:42

No refund just an alternative date.

Non flex is the cheapest option so usually offers no additional perks.

butmumineedit · 26/04/2020 11:44

I would also hang fire and wait till nearer the time , as if lockdown is still on, there is a chance they will still get full refund .

I had a room booked with travel lodge for April on their cheapest rate and no cancellation refund . They emailed me a week before offered me a choice of a full refund or a voucher for total
Stay plus 25% , I took the voucher as more beneficial to me.

InvisibleToEveryone · 26/04/2020 12:26

Yep I've told them to wait till nearer the time.

The event they were going to has been cancelled, hence they no longer need the PI.

Normally they book flex or whatever but were going to this event whatever the weather....its 300 miles away, but CV and lockdown happened and everything is cancelled and shut .
