Christ, will I owe hundreds to tax credits now?

Basically, my permanent job went from permanent to 'Bank' (basically a 0 hour contract) as of September. I still roughly work the same hours, so where before I was contracted to 21 hours a week, I might work on the Bank 17 hours one week and then 25 the next week, so it evens itself out.

I'm now having to renew my claim. I know i need to declare the change from a permanent position to a Bank one (I think?) but not sure what to do about the hours? Do they ask for an average and if so, how do I work that out? Doesn't say anything on their website or in the booklet.

So worried I'm going to owe them loads now Sad

They base it on what you earnt last year don't they? You only need to say something if your income goes up or down by a certain amount. What that amount is, I don't know but it seems unlikely with you basically doing the same hours or maybe a tiny bit more that it would apply to you

I think I read something that due to the pandemic that even if your income is reduced your TC won’t be affected. On the tax credit site.

Thank you. I will ring them. I didn't think they ever asked if my job was perm, temp, 0 hour etc.

In saying that though in the last 4 weeks my income has more than halved and I've done less than 16 hours a week (the minimum to qualify), just because of me or DC being symptomatic (my job is still there and busy)
