Recommend a good-quality lovely smelling soap bar?

I want some lovely luxury soap bars - not the supermarket types. I can remember a few people recommended a brand on here: something maybe beginning with O? But maybe not.

Anyway - looking for recommendations please!

I’m not sure if I’ve broken mumsnet rules by putting links in? Sorry if I have

Tanfastic · 23/04/2020 21:30

I really love a bar of Pears soap. Addicted to that smell 😂

Toilenstripes · 23/04/2020 21:30

Dove is the best. I have tried them all.

Idancedonday38 · 23/04/2020 21:33

Pears do a blue mint soap now. I bought it last week, I havn't tried it yet though, sorry!

soupey1 · 23/04/2020 21:33

Friendly Soaps are great, they smell fantastic and leave your skin feeling lovely.

doodleygirl · 23/04/2020 21:34

I have just treated myself to the L'Occitane cherry blossom, shower gel and body lotion and their milk shea butter soap. I couldnt wait to get into the shower yesterday.

The soap lathers up so creamily.

@biggirlknickers

Another one-woman soap maker here (I'm not her, but these soaps are amazing)

Op, you are thinking of Nesti Dante. I've been recommending them on here for 5+ years.

But for everyday/budget use the Dove bar with shea butter is absolutely gorgeous!

Vicliz24 · 23/04/2020 21:51

If you can get hold of them Fragonard the French perfume company do beautiful soaps as do Roger and Gallet too

fairyfingers · 23/04/2020 22:34

I have a pink pineapple soap from Kew Gardens which is gorgeous. My mum got it for me from a 'little shop' at some local tourist attraction but maybe online too? Range of smells obviously all plant based. Expensive but huge bars and the scent remains on the skin for ages

lazylinguist · 23/04/2020 22:38

Another vote for Nesti Dante. I don't like Dove - it doesn't feel like proper soap, though the smell is quite nice.

There are lots of beautiful handmade soaps, but they are no good if you live in a soft water area like me - they dissolve into slimy goo very quickly.

Daisychainsandglitter · 24/04/2020 04:55

The English soap company do some really lovely soaps. Would highly recommend them!

Gohackyourself · 24/04/2020 08:08

Hi
I have a question for all you soap lovers..,
What dish do you put them in? I tend to find they go all manky after a time and I’d like suggestions on a good receptacle for a nice soap !

L1vewell · 24/04/2020 08:09

I’m using a massive bar of L’occitaine lavender and it’s gorgeous. The French ones you can get everywhere in France are good. Our green supermarket has a good range, not much help now though. Sad I miss soap sniffing.

OneFlewOverTheMumsNest · 24/04/2020 15:18

This thread has made me so happy. I love a good soap and I’ve just ordered a mystery box from Chateau du Savon. £16 for 8 soaps. Bargain.

Appuskidu · 24/04/2020 15:24

@Gohackyourself

We don’t have a soap dish but have a magnetic soap holder-they are fab!

Xylophonics · 24/04/2020 15:32

Body shop soaps are good. Had their mango one although have to say they lose their scent after a while. Do any soaps keep their scent throughout?
Have a l'occitane one still in the wrapper from a present so I might get that out as it's been recommended on here.

binkyboinky · 24/04/2020 15:45

Holland & Barrett do some really nice ethical soap bars.

EnterFunnyNameHere · 24/04/2020 17:31

Just in case anyone is interested, Nesti Dante use palm oil.... from a "sustainable source" apparently but lots of people (including me) think that's an oxymoron and prefer to just avoid!

I like more herbal ones, with a top runner being the bay one from soapnuts uk - lovely!

PlanDeRaccordement · 24/04/2020 17:35

While living in U.K., became addicted to Norfolk Soap Company.
Lovely natural bar soaps with natural fragrance as I’m allergic to perfume.

bettybea · 24/04/2020 17:38

I just came on to say Nesti Dante and lots of others have too. They're gorgeous. Wrapped in cute paper too. TK Maxx, Amazon, perfume shop type websites all stock. I like the rose one best.

TheWashingMachine · 24/04/2020 17:55

Roger & Gallett

Gohackyourself · 24/04/2020 22:09

@Appuskidu oooh a soap holder?
Tell me more?
