Bronzer similar to hoola and dewy foundation

I have dry skin and I'm on the hunt for a nice full coverage dewy foundation. Budget around £35. So many are matte finish/oil free which is an absolute no go for me, as a dry skin person even the word matte makes me shudder. I want to look dewy and glowy. I heard good things about Nars but watched a few YouTube videos and dry skin users said to steer clear as it clings to dry patches.

Also looking for a new bronzer, currently I use benefit hoola which i love but coming to the end of it and would like to try something new, so something the same shade would be great (I'm quite pale). I'm not looking for a cheaper 'dupe' I'm just looking for something similar colour.

I posted this in beauty but nobody replied.

Thank you!

Oooh following with interest, another one here with dry, pale skin looking for a good full coverage foundation!

bookish83 · 23/04/2020 13:19

I have norma/dry side of skin and find both Nars sheer glow and the tinted moisturiser to be very good. I also got on with Estee Laude double wear light.

Nars bronzer is also what I use. I switched from Hoola and never went back. Its less muddy looking!

ginandcrisps · 23/04/2020 13:31

@bookish83 Which Nars bronzer do you use? I need one the same colour not darker as I think any darker then hoola won't suit me

Laguna bronzer. I love it and it lasts very well. I use it for bronzing and light contouring. I'm light olive skinned if that helps and tan well in the sun but it fits all year round for me.

The laguna liquid bronzer is nice too though seems more pigmented so have to be careful applying!

Foundation wise you would probably have to wait to be matched or try to see on you tube.

I feel ashamed to say but I know they are not cruelty free but I buy little make up nowadays and try to make good choices with other products!

bookish83 · 23/04/2020 13:52

Sorry meant to add I find it lighter than hoola. It is less muddy toned and more golden. I have never tried the other shades though x

ginandcrisps · 23/04/2020 15:16

@bookish83 will add that to my list, I've just realised ASOS sell Nars and I have a voucher so that'll come in handy!

Nars radiant longwear foundation is definitely the best on my very dry skin!

cwtchesandprosecco · 23/04/2020 15:24

Fenty beauty! I have oily skin so swear by the matte version, but my friend has dry skin and raves about the dewy version of it. It’s also got the best shade range I’ve seen.

nixso29 · 23/04/2020 15:30

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation mixed with Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid (Opal is my shade as I am quite fair skinned) plus Nars Laguna Bronzer and Nars Orgasm blush. My HG products!

ClientQ · 23/04/2020 15:32

The new Estée Lauder futurist foundation. It's really lovely even on my dry/flaky/patchy skin

VanillaSpiceCandle · 23/04/2020 16:29

I really like the Too Faced chocolate bronzer which can be built up but suits me when I’m pale and tanned. Don’t know about glowy foundation as I need the most matte for my oily skin.

ginandcrisps · 23/04/2020 20:18

I'll see if if I can test Nars, Charlotte tilbury and February foundation when shops re-open. I really wanted to love Nars orgasm blush after hearing such good things but honestly it doesn't even show up on my face, it's not pigmented at all, not sure if that's normal? My benefit ones are much more pigmented and better quality

I find Orgasm blush is really pigmented I only need to use a tiny amount. Everyones skin is different though! I also use Nars Impassioned blush which is a more matte effect I love it during the winter months

TerrorWig · 24/04/2020 01:01

Funny you say that @ginandcrisps I bought Orgasm and I also thought the colour was lacklustre and glittery.

Have you tried Rockateur by Benefit? It’s a similar colour but much much nicer.

juststopnow · 24/04/2020 01:14

Estée Lauder futurist is lovely on dry skin, Sali hughes did a great review on it when it launched, she was being paid by then at the time but it seemed pretty genuine. I’m oily so it’s no good for me.
The other one I could recommend is Clinique even better refresh, full coverage and moisturising.
Or YSL touché Eclat is glowy.

I’d hang on till the shops are open if you can and get samples of them all to see which you prefer.

edamismadebackwards · 24/04/2020 06:49

I have dryish dull skin. I wear Estee Lauder double wear and when putting it on mix in a drop of Revolution highlighter, and I find it gives me a really nice youthful dewy glow.

bookish83 · 24/04/2020 09:54

Yes the drop of highlighter is good! Or a primer with highlighting in.

OP

Keep an eye out if asos do 20% off. Its my favourite way to buy brands! Grin

I also use orgasm blush and find it very pigmented but not a harsh colour. In fact those three Nars products are my only base products plus collection 2000 concealer Grin. I have a triple palate with their highlighter in (from asos) so it is really minimal too!

Hate Nars concealer. Love their lipsticks but rarely buy. My favourite blush ever was a discontinued MAC one. It was perfect!

Good options that are cheaper are sleek and nyx. Sleek blushers are really good if you find the shade you need and nyx lipsticks.

I love benefit mascara but their blushers never show up on me!

muckycat · 24/04/2020 11:35

It's over budget (by about £10) but I have dry skin and avoid matt. I totally swear by bobbi brown intensive serum foundation, it has improved my skin texture too.
