Anybody else’s broadband painfully slow at the minute?

I’m assuming it’s because of the pandemic. My Wi-fi is so bloody slow. It’s so annoying. Keeps disconnecting on my phone and then I have to reconnect to it.

My mobile phone network seems to be struggling too. It keeps saying I have no service and even randomly said I had no sim inserted

YES!!! Confused

JellyfishandShells · 22/04/2020 22:47

Ours dropped for about 10 minutes three times today and it is normally rock solid .

ririkhan786 · 22/04/2020 22:49

I have mine through virgin and its held rock solid last month, can have about 7,8 devices connected sometimes

StillMedusa · 22/04/2020 23:30

Mines been dropping in and out for a week. Virgin cable and usually very reliable. Engineers (with full PPE!) came out and changed the cables and hub but tonight we lost it again for a couple of hours.. I suspect it's the sheer number of people online for longer than usual.

fourpeasinapod · 22/04/2020 23:41

@StillMedusa yes I would say it definitely it is to do with more people online at the minute

Mine is driving me potty now. Same goes for my mobile phone internet. Grrr!

fourpeasinapod · 22/04/2020 23:46

@RebelWhoWashesFor19Seconds oh I totally agree!

My phone especially is driving me insane - won’t stop disconnecting itself! Angry

People can’t go out. People are working from home. People are streaming more stuff than ever before. The providers have staff off left right and centre and have had to implement social distancing etc in their hosting centres and for their tech teams.

Yeah. I reckon the internet might be struggling a bit.

Hardly a shocker is it?

fourpeasinapod · 23/04/2020 09:16

@Rebootingagain calm down. Was only asking a question Hmm

Are you on EE? I am and I've had the random 'no SIM inserted' thing a few times recently.

fourpeasinapod · 23/04/2020 09:26

@Iwalkinmyclothing no I’m on O2. Yeah it’s very strange. I wondered what was wrong because I never took my SIM card out of interfered with it

3 signal has been appalling recently (they were shit anyway, often giving the 3G / 4G lie), much worse than normal.

Our home internet is with BT and it's had moments where it's really struggled. Turning off and on again does usually seem to assist!

Hagisonthehill · 23/04/2020 09:36

By at home drops off regularly.Dd is struggling with her school work because of this. For me it's just an annoyance as I'm drowning out nextdoors radio and my earpods keep going silent.
It will be trickier today as I need to reinsure everything so lots of searching needed and finding a garage that does Mots and servicing.

Dowser · 23/04/2020 10:17

Vodafone here..broadband and mobile
It’s lousy
Always has been
Supposed to be the new faster service too
My arse!

Rebootingagain · 23/04/2020 11:44

@fourpeasinapod just answering a question and giving an explanation.

Your question is a bit like someone living near Wembley asking why it’s busy outside on FA Cup final day (not this year- obviously, this year those people are all at home on the internet)

fourpeasinapod · 23/04/2020 12:49

@Rebootingagain I didn’t ask what the cause was did I?

I asked if anyone else had slow broadband. There’s a difference

Yes, snails pace would be an exaggeration.
