www.sporcle.com/games/g/world

I got 138. Not bad, considering we didn't really do geography at school. I still don't know what a lot of the countries are actually like but at least the game gives me an idea of where they are in the world!

Kyrgyzstan is a hideous word! I'm really aware that I'm missing it out, just because I don't know how to spell it, I haven't forgotten it!

I got 166 today. It's those little islands round Australia that catch me out - I've never heard of any of them!!

64 Blush this is awful, I'll have to practice. I did remember the Dominican Republic just as the time ran out

You mean Palau, Vanuatu, Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, Kiribati, erm, Solomon Islands, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, ummmmm probably some big ones I’ve forgotten?

Papua New Guinea?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 30/04/2020 07:28

@GuppytheCat you forgot Nauru Grin

GuppytheCat · 30/04/2020 08:33

I usually do Grin

For Kyrgyzstan it really helps if you remember that the stan goes at the end like all the other stans- rather than shoving in consonants and hoping for the best!

Only 91. Managed to forget quite a few that I've been to which was embarrassing.

I was doing the Sporcle European countries quiz a couple of months ago but seem to have forgotten what I knew.
For those struggling with spelling, check your answers, pick one that you missed out, keep saying the spelling out loud, repeat the quiz immediately and type in that country first. That way your phone will remember the spelling and help you out with the predictive text.

It's the only way that I've any hope of getting bloody Bosnia Herzegovina right.

Thanks for highlighting this website OP! DS2 is 11 and loves geography, he achieved 88 in the country quiz then had a go at the name the US state one and got 44/50! I think he's risking becoming addicted to it... could be worse though, right?! BlushGrin

Pickles89 · 30/04/2020 16:25

@namechangenumber2 That's brilliant! There's a UK counties one too. It's embarrassing that I still can't get 100% on that!

Ah, good thinking. I'm going it on my laptop - I end up googling and then cutting and pasting.

185! I can't believe what a leap that is from my original 138. Lockdown is being very educational!

YESSSSSS! 197/197!!! I finally did it!! Haha, I'm such a geek. Grin I feel like it's a bit of a gap in my education filled though, even if I don't know how to pronounce the names or what goes on there, at least I know they exist! When I was at school geography was about renewable energy, tectonic plates, long-shore-drift etc. Aside from one short topic on St Lucia, and another even shorter on Brazil, we didn't actually cover countries at all!

This one will test your logic and is very satisfying once you get them all.
