Any tips for doing gel nails at home ? Absolutely no idea after years of having to go to a nail salon due to my incompetence

You’ll need the following:
Gel polish
Base coat
Top coat
Nail sanitiser (look online)
Gel remover
File
Cuticle pusher (don’t know what they are actually called)
Small nail clippers
Cotton wool

Prep your nails by pushing the cuticles back and trimming, trim the nails and file, slightly file the top of the nail.

Wipe with sanitiser

Apply base and cure. I do four fingers then thumb separate. Wipe with sanitiser to remove stickiness
Apply polish and cure x 2, wipe
Apply top coat and cure, wipe.

I do left hand in full then right hand.

Do you need a UV machine?

Yes UV or LED lamp needed.

I prefer LED as it's quicker than my old UV lamp.

Never wiped inbetween coats though, just at the end after top coat 🤔

I do my own. I have tried many gels but the one that is the best by far in my opinion is NYK1. I get it from Amazon. It comes with a brush and you just need the base coat and top coat which they do as well, and the lamp. It you get the gel, it comes with a step by step guide which is very helpful. I like their nail tips as well, they last longer than others.
Not connected to them at all - just after years of various makes, I have found this one which seems to be superior to other brands.
