Army related questions from Our Girl

I'm watching Our Girl, and I have maaaaannny questions. I know it's probably not an accurate depiction of Army life, but these things are confusing me. Google is not helping me, so I'm hoping the hive mind of MN can!

1. At Fingers' funeral, why weren't Kingy and Georgie in uniform?

1. Surely Georgie and all the other female soldiers wouldn't share a dorm with men?

1. How come everyone they encounter speaks and understands English so well. Surely they'd need interpreters.

Our girl should be taken with a huge pinch of salt! 😀
Dh loves it but I think it's more the lead character he likes and it has some action etc etc! I gave up once Stacey from Eastenders left.

DS went into Army as junior soldier (17yo). From what I read about that programme, it is ludicrously unlike DS's experience. You may as well make up any reasons to answer those questions.

DS1 is in the army and DH is the RAF. We watched half of the very first episode then turned it off. It's nothing like the reality, at all. Military programs never are.

It's laughably dire, just like soldier soldier.
