What is this on my top lip?

For the last 10 years I have had a mark on my top lip. At first I thought it was a spot. Then it never went so I assumed it was a mole. I have lots! It just suddenly appeared one day.

It started to hurt and eventually I went to a dermatologist who said it didn’t need removing, nothing sinister and that actually removing it may cause a scar. and that the reason it hurt was because the top lip has hairs and the hairs are irritating it.

It’s still there and it basically cycles through being a Flatish little mark that is slightly darker than my skin. To a raised sore lump that hurts when you touch it and looks pretty ugly. I can get relief by squeezing it like a zit! Sometimes the top layer of skin peels off, I assume because it becomes so large!

It’s ridiculous! How can I have a hair follicle issue lasting 10 years?!

Has anyone had anything like this before? How can I get rid of it?

I tried taking a picture but it would be very outing!

I have one on my back that sounds exactly the same. Sometimes I have to beg DH to squeeze it to get relief. They refused to remove it as it’s nothing sinister, mine is out of sight but it’s really annoying.

I tried to burn it off, I had had success doing this on a weird patch of skin that they also refused to remove. I used cuplex wart remover to burn that off because I could do that myself. I had to rely on DH putting it on my back and he constantly ended up putting too much on so the normal skin was always painful as the stuff burns. I gave up in the end and they no longer make cuplex gel. So I have no clue how to get rid of it. It depends on if you don’t mind a small visible scar, you could always pay to have it removed privately I suppose.
