More than paying other people... and you can make it fun. Radio on, takeaway pizza, sense of accomplishment...

If I was very wealthy I prob would just pay someone else tho.

I used to paint and wallpaper but now pay someone else to do it. The worse is a 'painting party' - why one would ever put the effort (and usually do a bad job) at some one else's house is beyond me.

I enjoy it, yes. Except for ceilings, I hate doing ceilings. I've been decorating during lockdown, it's keeping me busy.

I don’t mind it, same as pp-is rather do it myself than pay someone else. We did pay to have the landing done as we couldn’t reach the walls over the stairs.

The one this I absolutely hate is cutting in. We tend to paint everything an off white now and add colour with the room accessories. Much easier.

Yes, I’m all white..love it.

I can’t wallpaper and wouldn’t attempt it, but I quite like painting if I’m in the mood and will happily help a friend out.

We've been through our whole house a couple of times now. Wallpapering and painting every room. We love doing it when we have plenty of time and space to do it. Hate it when we're rushed.

Over the years, there's been a couple of times we've had "professionals" in, both when our DS was young and we didn't have the time/inclination to DIY. We're weren't happy either time. Despite being "professional", i.e. City & Guilds, experienced, blah-blah, the quality of both was far below what we could do ourselves. Once was the lounge, which we ended up doing ourselves a year or two later because the dodgy wallpaper joints stood out too much. The other was our hall, stairs and landing. We did it ourselves first time but it stressed us having to buy platforms and then took ages to do the longest floor to ceiling 2 storey drops. So got a "professional" for the second time. What a bloody nightmare - the papering was like a toddler would do - not even properly vertical - he clearly didn't bother with a plumb-line. So, again, a couple of years later, we did it ourselves. I think the so-called "professionals" try to do things far too quickly and end up with poor quality finish.

That’s so frustrating when you pay a professional and they do a poor job, I’ve had that in the past now I’m older if a shot fob was done I’d refuse to pay and I’d make it clear before they begin I’m expecting it to be perfect
