It is nearly 11.30pm and the boiler is making a continuous high pitched whine .. DH switched it off at the mains and has bled three radiators ( bedrooms and bathroom which are nearest ) in case of air lock. Nothing . Still doing .

Phoned Home Covered but they reckon it is possibly pipes ??

Will a Gas Engineer come out ?

Its a Worcester 28Si II about 15 years old , serviced annually

TIA

It sounds like it could be a pressure problem?? Guessing you’ve done all the resets you can already?
No idea if many plumbers would be on 24 hr call out at the moment, but you could google for a 24 hr plumber in your area, or put a post on fb maybe?

Pressure is 1.5 , right in the middle of the "grey zone".
Boiler is in a cupboard in upstairs bedroom. Its actually noisier downstairs . !

DH is on the phone ..... I just want the noise to stop aargh ( and I'm sure my NDNs will agree too )

It started when I used the bathroom tap to brush my teeth

I was going to say pressure, too. There might be an air bubble in the system if the pressure seems normal.

BadgerBadgerMushroom · 21/04/2020 23:47

Does anything happen if you try the tap again?

danni0509 · 21/04/2020 23:56

Hope you get it sorted!

Emergency plumber? Costs an arm and a leg I know.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/04/2020 23:57

Running the tap doesn't stop the noise .

DH put it back on, radiators and hot water are fine .

Wouldn't an air lock cause knocking?

DH has Googled - High Pressure possibly (but gauge says ok)

Our cover is Heating + Boiler ..both are fine , they don't class noise as emergency

So Emergency Plumber it sounds like
