Anyone's DC in 18th birthday lockdown, what are/were your plans to make it special?

It's a weird one isn't it?
I've bought lots of little gifts, praying I get the online cake my kind neighbour has popped on her shopping order.
Arranged secretly with closest friends to send real cards.
Will probably get a takeaway.
Any more ideas?

@thesunwillout

My DD has had her 18th birthday last week in lockdown.

We did pretty much what you have described in your posts. We have promised to rebook her party when all of this is over.

We have also promised to rebook our holiday (her main birthday present) to Florida once all of this is over.

Hope she has a special and enjoyable birthday x

It was ds 18th a few weeks ago. We just had a takeaway, a few drinks with and played poker, games etc. We will celebrate it properly when things are back to normal

Thankyou both, I'm glad you had nice celebrations with your DC.
We've got a few gigs postponed, so must remember to look forward to those.
I was hoping to get a week abroad after a levels, so will hopefully do that next year.
We've been playing charades and cards so I can see us doing that.
It's only her and I but the dog does his best to join in.

My DD is going to be 18 at the end of June. She is really hoping that life will be a bit more normal by then and that she’ll be able to celebrate.
I like the idea of your dog trying to join in thesunwillout!

I hope so too!

How about a video meet up/party with friends using House Party? You can play versions of board games etc. on the app. They could dress up for a night out or do a fancy dress theme...

Or how about a virtual first legal drink at the pub? Set up a mini bar at home with snacks and drinks and maybe play a pub quiz with friends or family via video message?

When I was 18 I would have missed my friends so much.

DS’ 18th is in a couple of weeks. We’re doing a cheesy quarantine themed party- got yellow and black decorations for the dining room and this cake topper: www.etsy.com/uk/listing/793521151/under-quarantine-cake-topper-lockdown?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=quarantine+cake+topper&ref=sr_gallery-1-4&organic_search_click=1&bes=1&col=1

DS only wants a book and a video game for his birthday so it’s going to be a bit dull for him but hopefully he’ll be able to do something with his friends before they all head off for uni etc.

Lots of great suggestions thanks BlackInk.
Wickedgood, love that topper!

Yes I remember clearly my first legal half a lager at the pub round the corner from college.

Great days.
