Honeymoon dreaming... Sardinia vs Amalfi Coast

DP and I are getting married September next year. Far in advance, but here we are dreaming in lockdown.

Budget 3.5k ish. 2 weeks. We love a bit of a mix of everything, but mostly enjoying beautiful surroundings.

Any suggestions?

Also open to alternatives!

We stayed in Sorrento with a trip to Capri, it was amazing!!

Go to Sardinia, hire a car and find your own little coves and bays. Could even book a few nights in a few different places, Emerald Coast to Alghero doesn't take long yo drive and the roads were great. Amalfi Coast is gorgeous but much busier than Sardinia

Sardinia. It's fabulous and so much less congested than the Amalfi coast.

We had our honeymoon in Sardinia - hired a car and explored the north coast. It was great, would definitely recommend.

The Amalfi Coast is wonderful but towns get very busy during the day so can be uncomfortable for day trips, so I'd suggest you stay over for a few nights in each place so you can enjoy them properly. I'd also recommend you use ferries to travel between towns as it's much more relaxing compared to the buses (taxis are very expensive). We did 3 nights in Sorrento, 3 in Positano and 3 in Anacapri, and they were all particularly lovely in the evenings. I also stayed for one night in the Pompeii area, as I was keen to see the ruins and wanted to be there early so I could leave before it got too hot and busy. We went to Ravello for a day trip and next time I go i'd like to stay there for a couple of nights as it's a delightful place.

Sardinia, it's lovely. The Amalfi Coast is overrated, overcrowded and a bit grubby. Worth it for Pompeii and Herculaneum though.

We had a fabulous holiday in northern Sardinia, just a beautiful place. Went to an agriturismo near Alghero for a wonderful meal, it's an aim of mine to return!
