What's wrong with my olive oil? With photos!

It's extra virgin olive oil if that is relevant. Just came in my shopping this morning and it appears to have all these floating things in it 🤷🏻‍♀️ they look like those grains of Lazy Garlic that you get in jars. Can I use it? Had plans for it today.

Help!

It's probably got a bit cold in the delivery van. It will be fine when it's been at room temperature for a while. Olive oil goes cloudy and solid at colder temperatures.

Okay maybe I should have googled this first... no idea why I didn't! Anyway it seems it's perfectly normal and nothing to worry about.

Many apologies. Move along now... nothing to see here 😳

Is it cold? It could be solidifying a bit, like honey does. Maybe try warming it up and see.

Warm it gently-it may have been kept somewhere cold and gone cloudy.

Shake the bottle and then just leave it in the kitchen, it’s probably just cold from the delivery van

vinoandbrie · 20/04/2020 14:04

Has it been stored at under 10 degrees Celsius? If so it’s normal for it to go cloudy.

Place it in warm water. If that’s what the problem is, then the warm water should right it in due course!

@NannyR thank you. I feel a bit stupid now for not just having a quick Google first!

It was cold when I unpacked it, must have been next to the fridge/freezer stuff.

Thanks all, sorry for being one of those posters 😭
