Any tips on booking a Morrisons or ASDA food delivery slot?

I've been doing ok by staying up until midnight and booking Tesco click and collect slots when I've needed them. Last night though the slots for 3 weeks time were all gone in less than 10 minutes and I didn't get one. We have 5 Tesco stores within 10 miles of us and every click and collect and delivery time, for all of them, were all booked up by 12.10am!

I've looked at Morrisons and ASDA and their calendars are also booked up but they seem to only book about a week or so ahead. Does anyone know if they release slots at specific times like Tesco do or is it more random? I've had a Morrisons food box before which was good and easy to order, but I really would like to get a proper food shop booked for May.

I was hoping it would get easier as the supermarkets recruited more staff but it seems to be getting harder. Any Morrisons or ASDA tips would be very welcome.

I got an Asda slot at 3am a few weeks ago.

Ullupullu · 20/04/2020 08:50

Morrisons is random. I've had nothing nothing nothing then slots available just for the next two days. Keep trying every day

Rustyigloo · 20/04/2020 08:53

Ive got a feeling the Morrisons website releases its slots at random times.
I spent about a week checking a couple of times a day for slots and nothing. Then one day at about 6pm about 4 days worth of slots suddenly popped up. It was like Christmas! I think they were all gone within about 20 mins.

Keep an eye on Tesco (& the others) at odd times. I managed to get a click & collect last night, about 8, for 2 & 4 on Tuesday. I just checked on the off chance & there was a choice of 4 different times available.

ALemonyPea · 20/04/2020 08:56

Just check throughout the day. I've seen them come up between 9-11am for the next day a few times.

Asda seem to release slots at about 10pm. I haven’t managed to get one but did snag a click and collect yesterday at about 7am. Good luck!

Elouera · 20/04/2020 08:57

I got an asda slot when I woke between 4-5am last week! No idea when they release them, but keep trying. I ended up putting a list of places that deliver. At that time of the morning, I'd forget that some places deliver: Iceland, co-op (I think a limit of either 20 or 45 items), Tesco (80 item limit), Sainsburys, asda, morrisons, Ocado (only existing customers though). I might have missed somewhere too.

(I'm vulnerable, but not on the shielded list)

Im managing to get asda click and collect much easier than a few weeks ago. I used to log at midnight but have booked at 7am this morning for Sat 2nd May and there was plenty of availability of days / slots.

Lindy2 · 20/04/2020 09:03

Thanks for the suggestions. It looks like it will be a case of checking and hopefully at some point getting lucky.

The frustrating thing with Morrisons is that you have to queue to even look at the calendar and find out nothing is available.

After a tip on another thread on here I have found the best time for Asda is just after 10pm. They release the slots for 13 days time.

Last night I kept refreshing from 10pm and managed to get a slot for my parents for 2nd May.

I think it must depend on where you live though as there are never any for my area. I gave up on Tesco.

IAcceptCookies · 20/04/2020 09:17

I got an Asda one last night! I suggested a glass of fizz to DH in celebration!
This must have been at around 11.30pm ish. Last one left. I just thought I’d have one last look and there it was. No idea when they’re actually released and can’t find info on it.
I’ve had better luck with Tesco click and collect. They appear at midnight and disappear 3 minutes later!

BlueGheko · 20/04/2020 10:12

I've been getting slots at Sainsbury's and Asda just by checking randomly throughout the day. Haven't managed to get a Tesco slot for a month so checked yesterday about 2pm and got one for today! But none available for next week which is what I was looking for. Seems to me they're all just adding random slots at random times Confused

Fredthedoggie · 20/04/2020 11:16

Morrisons stopped opening slots for about a week- then released loads 1 day last week.

I would say:
They are now up to the 7th May (so not the usual 3 weeks in advance). They release just after midnight- and they also seem to release a few other nearer random slots.

lyralalala · 20/04/2020 13:19

If you are awake it’s worth checking Tesco just after 2am. People get 2 hours to check out so if they don’t (I know a few where both halves of a couple get in the queue, but only need one slot so release one of they get two) the slots are released again.

Asda sleep to have slots around 3am most nights here, but depends where you are if it’s the same

lyralalala · 20/04/2020 13:20

Asda can also be worth checking around 8pm/9pm for a next day delivery. I think a lot of people are still booking deliveries then cancelling last minute.

Have everything you want in your trolley so you can check out quickly if you are trying Asda as the edit cut off is now 10pm rather than midnight

BullshitVivienne · 20/04/2020 13:20

Asda have gone back to being able to book 14 days in advance, whereas the other week it was 7 days. I have managed to get slots just after midnight. One of the few perks of having a baby waking up in the night.

vanillandhoney · 20/04/2020 13:24

Tesco often seems to randomly release next day slots around 2pm so it's worth checking regularly just in case.

I'm using Morrison's at the moment and have just booked a slot for three weeks time on their website. We've managed weekly slots with them so far.

Bubblysqueak · 20/04/2020 13:31

I booked an Asda slot at 9 am ish Saturday morning, complete fluke I think bit there's were lots left but for 2 weeks time.

fiddlededum · 20/04/2020 13:34

Morrison's slots come up fairly regularly, just keep logging on and checking, but be warned we had over 75% of items missing from the delivery last week including all meat and dairy so it's not always worth it!

stripycreature · 20/04/2020 13:45

I'm in Birmingham and got a slot at Asda at 3 am. I had started checking at midnight but nothing happened.

vanillandhoney · 20/04/2020 13:50

@fiddlededum Morrisons seems to be very area dependent at the moment - we've had zero issues with ours.

CottonSock · 20/04/2020 13:54

I've seen asda at different times..given up on tesco
