Has anyone managed to be extra productive/achieve during the lockdown period?

Thought it would be nice to have a positive thread about lockdown :)
My achievements are:

  1. Getting a bit more familiar with longer (e.g. 16 mile) driving journeys whilst the roads are clearer (I'm a new-ish driver so lower traffic is easing my worries a bit) (p.s I'm not actually "going" anywhere - merely planning out routes and driving back without getting out anywhere.

  2. Finished the couch to 5k 9-week running program this week (started it in January so pre-lockdown).

  3. I'm kinda considering trying to remedy some of my skin issues (potentially trying out newer ways that advise not going out in the sun for a few days after - but as salons and dermatalogists etc are closed, not sure how far I'll get with that one (using just the internet).

What about you?

I’ve got quite good at Pokemon Sword on the children’s Switch...

That’s about it. I had high hopes for all sorts of projects but have found just getting through the day with three warring children tires me out!

Bluewavescrashing · 19/04/2020 19:36

No.

I'm surviving.

SuperSleepyBaby · 19/04/2020 19:42

No. I have a 3 year old who never stops talking to me all day and a 1 year old who climbs on everything. I am also doing school work with my older children. I dream of the free time I will have when this eventually ends.

Tink1990 · 19/04/2020 20:12

Sorted some cuboards out and threw a lot of stuff away, something I've been meaning to do for ages but always put off. Just the 'drawer of crap' to go. I am dreading it!

lachy · 19/04/2020 21:02

We were thinking of moving (obviously on hold for now) but decided that it was an ideal time to have a sort out. We've got bags of stuff to take to the charity shop, bags of stuff ready to sell on ebay and a few bags of recycling.

We'll probably need another 6 months of lockdown to do the whole house.

Zaphodsotherhead · 19/04/2020 21:23

I've written a full length novel (76,000 words to be exact) since 10 March. It's not due to my publisher until October!

It's been so nice not having any interruptions - no people knocking at the door, nobody wanting to go for coffee or meet up for a chat. I have still had the day job to go to, but apart from that I can concentrate on the writing!

howow · 19/04/2020 21:49

Thanks for the replies so far :)
@Zaphodsotherhead ah awesome, what kind of book is it?

Yes I've been very productive. Painted the garden fence and shed. Sanded and painted my fireplace. Upped my workouts to twice daily plus a cycle /walk and completed a year's worth of mandatory professional cpd! Would love to have a clear out but nowhere to take it so that'll have to wait. Next task I've putting off for ages is sorting and shredding old paperwork and ds's mountain of old school work that gets sent home.

Clutterfreeintraining · 20/04/2020 13:31

I started off quite well but have been really sloth-like for at least two weeks. I am working three long days a week but that still leaves 4 days to be getting things done - and there are plenty of things that need to be done. Maybe today will be the day I find some motivation Grin

QuestionableMouse · 20/04/2020 13:34

Almost finished my dissertation. Already handed in four assignments.

Written 20k words on a new project.

Baked a lot more.

If the situation wasn't so horrible I'd be quite enjoying this time. It's the longest I've ever had off work (started working at 16 in racing and I'm 35, never had more than a fortnight off in one go.)

BertieDrapper · 20/04/2020 13:50

Decorated our bedroom.
Now refurbing the stairs.
Painted our bedside tables
Done some Macreme, cross stitch and did the freebie from my mollie makes magazine which I never usually do.
We've got the garden sorted which is good for us, it normally gets ignored until the summer!
Finally put DDs shelves up in her bedroom which we've had for well over a year!!

House is a tip though 😫

BoogleMcGroogle · 20/04/2020 13:50

I've sorted out some cupboards, painted two rooms, cooked from scratch every day, homeschooled children, read books, walked 1.5 hours each day.

Sounds productive? Nope. If I was being productive i would have got in with finishing my doctoral thesis which is due in July. It seems even lockdown can't get me going....

I'm off for a walk in the sun ☀️

Zaphodsotherhead · 20/04/2020 14:41

@howow

I write romantic comedies.

Today I ran 11 miles. Lockdown seems to be good for me, but I live alone and very rurally. I feel for all those in cities with small children, trying to work from home.

ssd · 20/04/2020 14:46

Zaphod are you initials CM? If so I love your books Smile

ItStartedWithAKiss241 · 20/04/2020 14:56

I have DD10 teaching me how to play Titanic on the piano.... I have taught DS11 and DD10 how to make cheese on toast.... DD and DSD have been baking cupcakes independently (together) age 10 and 7. X

JellyNo15 · 20/04/2020 16:25

I organised every cupboard. Spring cleaned although the house. DH has tiled the utility room and I have painted in there.

I am in the process of painting the exterior of the house and garden walls but have run out of paint. Starting the garden fences tomorrow. Also been tidying my garden and my parents.

I have an empty nest and no work due to lockdown.

Zaphodsotherhead · 20/04/2020 19:30

ssd - sadly, they aren't.

binkyboinky · 21/04/2020 02:45

Yep, I have been spring cleaning my flat, tackling different 'zones' and clearing clutter. I've cleared out tons of junk in my bedroom, my office, and hallway, and will be doing the kitchen and bathroom over the next few weeks. I intend to spend about a week on each room, doing a little bit each day. Currently my living room is piled high with the junk I intend to donate when the shops open! Grin

binkyboinky · 21/04/2020 02:47

@Zaphodsotherhead That is amazing!

Ipadipod · 21/04/2020 02:53

I have painted the conservatory, and cleaned the outside of it . Jet washed the patio , put a garden swing together, made some planters , painted a fence . Tomorrow I’m going to relay the garden path and cut down a bush that’s been decimated by caterpillars ( I have a bit of a phobia of caterpillars and feel sick at the thought of it).

managedmis · 21/04/2020 02:57

I've started eating carbs again

I'm gardening lots

Clearing out some cupboards and trying to get rid of stuff

PapercraftNinja · 21/04/2020 03:01

I don’t feel very productive as I have a toddler and balancing work, but I’ve been cooking from scratch three meals a day, managing to get us all out on a walk once a day and trying new ideas for play/learn activities with DD. But the house is a (very clean) tip and I’ve got boxes in the top of my wardrobe I try not to think about 🙈

PhoenixIsFlying · 21/04/2020 03:05

I try and achieve a task a day and now have an unwanted in-depth knowledge of pet trading on Roblox 😫

fungster · 21/04/2020 03:06

I'm working FT from home and "homeschooling" three kids...if I manage to workout or walk the dog I consider it a win.
