We’ve got an adorable scruff of a puppy. First time dog owners as adults, had cats before. Dh has grown up kids and the dog Is to help with a bit of empty nest.

I’m finding the being referred to as ‘mummy’ by dh, as in go find mummy she’s got your dinner’ a tiny bit cringey. What to do instead....or just get over myself!

Mum and Dad to the cats here, same as for the DCs. I don't describe us as their mum and dad to anyone else, it's just when I'm talking to them I might say "go and sit on Dad's lap".

I call myself ‘human mummy’ to show Dcat I understand he also had a cat mummy.

I do pick him up and cuddle him, saying ‘you’re my baby, my precious fluffy baby’ etc, kiss him on the head etc.

He is such a joy, I don’t care that I am silly over him.
