If you have a Sky Q box, did you know....

...that if you lose the remote control you can press the Q on the box if you lose the remote control which emits a loud beeping from the remote control so you can find it?

We use this function several times a day since baby DC finger mashed the box and accidentally discovered this function.
How did it take them this long to invent this?!

I feel like this about zip lock pea bags as well.

I did not know! Thank you

I know this thread looks like it's written by a drunk person.

However, it's badly written by someone accommodating a small breastfeeding gymnast who can't figure out which nipple is his favourite. 🙄

No way, that is brand new information!
Thankyou!

Rubychard · 18/04/2020 16:09

Wow! Who knew? This could be a lifesaver.......

Thighmageddon · 18/04/2020 16:09

This is excellent news. The sky remote is now the most treasured piece of kit in our house and the fear of losing it has been very real.

TrashKitten10 · 18/04/2020 16:16

Fabulous, how come they don't make that more well known?! We have a recliner sofa that has a penchant for eating remotes and phones so we are often crawling around on the floor with a torch trying to find where about things have disappeared to. If the remote can cry for help from whichever inner bit of sofa working it's become stuck in it will make the rescue operation far quicker.

ExclamationPerfume · 18/04/2020 16:24

Yes we have used this a few times when we have lost the remote.

DobbyLovesSocks · 18/04/2020 16:58

This function has been a godsend. I would however like sky to add a few more:

The ability to block downloads/recordings with a pin (my DS is very trigger happy and I have to delete all the crap he downloads every few days)
The ability to delete whole series (see above)

If the above exists already can someone please share with me how to do it?

NewYorkIvy · 18/04/2020 17:01

I didn't know this. I wish they would bring back the phone remote app they had with the old box - it was great for winding up DH by changing channel from the next room

Zisforstripyoss · 18/04/2020 17:09

I didn't know this either - this is life changing!!

ExpletiveDelighted · 18/04/2020 17:13

You can delete whole series, in the manage disc space just highlight a series not an episode before hitting delete.

Kiki275 · 18/04/2020 17:56

Yes, my toddler alerted me to this, he presses it repeatedly 😩 x

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 18/04/2020 17:56

Since we are on the subject - does anyone else find it really blood my hard to navigate the software now?

We have had it for best part of a year and it still doesn't flow or make sense.

The other one made so much more sense.

They absolutely ruined it. It makes me want to swap to someone else.

I miss being able to specify exactly where in a recording you want to resume watching Angry

Ontheboardwalk · 18/04/2020 18:03

Anyone know how you can continue watching where you were on your last recording without having to go back into the recordings themselves?

You used to just be able to press play, now it’s the play/pause button it doesn’t work

LittleTopic I"m with you on that one

I do like the 6 recordings at a time

Ontheboardwalk · 18/04/2020 18:04

*continue watching after you've come out of the recording, not whilst you’re watching it

HairyFloppins · 18/04/2020 18:04

Yes I did after googling it after losing ours. Brilliant invention.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 18/04/2020 18:05

LittleTopic yes I used to use that function a lot.

Fact is, I actually watch a LOT less TV now because they changed to.

I just watch on my phone now.

doodlyfiddly · 18/04/2020 18:52

Did you know that, when watching a recording or something that's been paused, if you press the voice button on the side of the remote, you can say 'skip (3) minutes', or however long, to jump through adverts or something annoying? Works with 'rewind' too.

ontheboardwalk - on the main home screen, just scroll down and there is a continue watching section there, you don't have to go into recordings. If that is what you're asking?

ExpletiveDelighted · 18/04/2020 18:53

I'd say it took me 6 months to get used to navigating it. I still find some aspects a bit annoying. But on the whole it's SO much better than our old Sky+ box.

Ontheboardwalk · 18/04/2020 19:12

doodlyfiddly on the old remote if you’d come out of a recording back to normal tv you could just press the play button to start playing it again. You can’t do that on the new remote

Appreciate you can continue by clicking a few more times but it just seems strange they took away such a usual function.

I know I’m complaining about nothing really....

Ontheboardwalk · 18/04/2020 19:22

Actually just checked my home continue options and my current programme isn’t there.

Great British Menu is in my recordings but not on my continue list, how strange.

betty2020 · 18/04/2020 19:24

Yes I knew that. It only works on the remote downstairs though.

PicsInRed · 18/04/2020 19:25

Christ that is fucking revolutionary.

The amount of time wasted asking child where they've hidden remote. Hmm

RifRafia · 18/04/2020 19:27

I did not know that, genius! Have just demonstrated my new 'magic trick' to DC, all very impressed!
