Condom slip.. chances of pregnancy?

Just need a bit of reassurance/a kick up the backside and felt a bit crass posting in pregnancy when there are so many who are actively trying to get pregnant.

We had a mishap with a condom earlier today, it slipped off at the end. The first date of my last period was 27/03 and I roughly have a cycle between 27 and 29 days. I could potentially make a trip to the pharmacy for emergency contraception but everything I read online states that it prevented ovulation but I've presumably already ovulated this month?

Don't want to make an unnecessary journey in the current climate to be told the MAP is useless in my situation.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Go now, get the MAP. It’s not worth the risk if you don’t want to be pregnant.

RandomMess · 18/04/2020 15:35

My slip and then MAP is 23...

YerAWizardHarry · 18/04/2020 15:38

So would the MAP actually have any affect? I'm not due to ovulate for almost 3 weeks

Def worth taking it if you do not want to get pregnant!

RandomMess · 18/04/2020 15:40

Sperm can live for something ridiculous like 6 days 😳

PurpleDaisies · 18/04/2020 15:40

Is it worth the risk of ovulating early though?
Wouldn’t you feel stupid if you become pregnant and hasn’t tried to prevent that happening by taking the MAP?

YerAWizardHarry · 18/04/2020 15:43

@RandomMess but even 6 days doesn't take me anything close to my normal ovulation date.

I will do some research on local pharmacies I'm assuming there is one open in one of the supermarkets. Of course things like this happen at the weekend Envy

I'm 8 weeks pregnant after taking the MAP a day after ovulation. I told the pharmacist I'd already ovulated and she said it would still work as it would stop implantation. But she lied 😬

YerAWizardHarry · 18/04/2020 18:41

@Frazzlerock i'm around 10 days past ovulation. Went to the pharmacist earlier and they explained that as I was so far past ovulation and also due to me being in the overweight category that it was basically pointless. She prescribed me it anyway but said if I wanted to be 100% certain I needed to have an emergency coil fitted

@YerAWizardHarry you're probably pretty safe now I imagine given how long ago you ovulated, but only if you're sure you ovulated then? Mine's all over the place.

I ovulated early this cycle which I never do, and that's how we got caught out.

YerAWizardHarry · 18/04/2020 18:47

I'm very regular and have pretty obvious ovulation pains. Also tracked my cycle when we had our previous two children so I'm pretty sure it was around 10 days ago give or take
