I'm in need of a new series to watch with DDs, 15, 12 and 9. We loved BBC His dark materials, and have just finished Pride and Prejudice (the original one, obvs Smile). I thought about Stranger Things, but a tad scary for the youngest. I'm struggling to think of something that DD9 can watch, that won't bore the pants of DD15 (and me). What have you been watching?

Awkward age gap with the 9yo. Def not stranger things. Think you'll be stuck with 'entertainment' shows that the older ones won't be interested in.

Thanks @inwood Smile Unfortunately 9 and 15 is very inconvenient for good tv. I may have to bite the bullet and go for Disney + Sad

Comedy? Parks & Recreation is a favourite here, currently on Amazon Prime. Father Ted also a hit.

I saw Malory Towers recommended on another thread recently? Or (bit retro) Buffy?

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 18/04/2020 07:58

Parks & Rec here too, eldest has just requested a re-watch.

Gilmore Girls?

We've got a 14, 12 and 8 year old mix here. We signed up for the Disney free trial.....We've been enjoying The Mandalorian a Star Wars type series, the Marvel superhero movies...the best thing is you can watch all of The Simpson's.

sorryiasked · 18/04/2020 08:02

We've watched Ed Stafford - First Man Out, which was ok. And now watching Steve Backshall exploration series (on Uktvplay)

CottonEaster · 18/04/2020 08:03

Modern Family on Amazon Prime.

Rostbif · 18/04/2020 11:51

Brill! These all sound really promising. Parks and Recreation - I'll check it out!
Mandalorian looks good too, and Buffy is an awesome suggestion!
Thank you Smile

We all enjoyed Race across the world, Malory Towers and Win the Wilderness. Will follow this thread as need ideas for what to watch next.

@Rostbif, its worth knowing that P&R can seem a bit odd the first time you watch it, and it takes a few episodes to get going imo. But by season 2, my goodness it is one of the funniest series ever made. It is also optimistic and feel good, so particularly appropriate for current times. We are in the middle of re-watching for the third or fourth time!

Anne with an E on Netflix? It is based on Anne of Green Gables

LittleMissA · 18/04/2020 14:46

What about Once Upon a Time, my 10 year old has really got into. There's quite a few series to keep you going, it does get a bit samey but not a bad watch.

HandfulOfFlowers · 18/04/2020 14:48

We are watching A Series of Unfortunate Events on Netflix
