Advice on how to literally stop pulling my hair out

anon1289 · 17/04/2020 21:34

I've started this terrible habit of literally pulling my hair out at the front. I'm now starting to get a little bald patch.

Any advice/experience on this and how to stop it? Only started in the past maybe 3 months?

Thanks

Hi anon you have a condition called Trictolamania- it’s an obsessive complulsive disorder.
Lots of people do it.
Please google it and you can find advice on how to manage this.
I have it - started doing it when I was 13 and continue now sadly.
You need to try and recognise what your thinking is prior to doing and when your doing it - this is one idea.
Another one is an anti depressant.
I had hypnotherapy and stopped for 4 weeks but I didn’t keep it up so started again.
Check out you tube too.

Wear a beanie hat in the evenings?
Find something to do with your hands like knitting or a tapestry or holding a book.
Ask others to tell you when you are subconsciously doing it.
Wear thick gloves so that you cant grip individual hairs.
