Best parental control set up for a new phone user? For 10 year old.

Our 10 yr old is starting to want to go to the park with her friends etc (not now obviously) and we are thinking of getting her a phone.

I have seen the Monqi mentioned, and there seem to be lots of pros and cons.

What do others recommend? Ideally I'd like geo tracking, oversight over messaging, app downloads etc.

We have family link. It's not perfect but does show location and we have to approve any apps they want downloaded. Mine are not allowed any social media and we randomly check messages etc.

We have family link as well. It’s okay but somehow we can’t get app approval to work so have to delete apps. Only social media is TikTok for now which I hate but it’s also logged in on my phone. We check messages etc. To be honest I preferred her having an iPhone as the controls were much better and simpler to use. The screen on her iPhone screamed and my husband replaced with an honour lite.

Smashed not screamed.

Our youngest got an iPhone when she was 10.5. I set it up with a static IP address on our router so I could cut off the internet at a reasonable time.
I also set it up so all app downloads needed a password which I put in and I also blocked youtube on it so she was unable to access it.
I set her up so I could see her on find my friends and I can access her messages because I have access to her Apple ID.

We do all have iPhones in our house, as well as Macs etc so her having an iPhone made the most sense.
She's never lost her phone and the rules have been relaxed slightly as she has gotten older but we talk and I expect her to tell us if there is something that she feels uncomfortable with and also to know how to self censor by leaving a site or turning off the TV if she doesn't like what is happening.

Family link is good but the location settings can be a bit haphazard. I'd be inclined to get a separate tracker if that's important to you
