Ex DP not paid maintenance for 4 months now saying he has lost his job

DD is 15 and her father lives 100 miles away and sees her once a year - his choice as he has a new family.

Anyway DD didnt go and visit him 4 months ago as he had a new baby and hadn’t told her till the baby was a few months old - she was understandably upset.
Ex H has withheld maintenance since that time refusing to speak to me or DD till she visits him. I contacted him again today received a really sweary email that he has lost his job and needs to use his money on his 3 new children and that i should take a mortgage payment holiday as I have been furloughed!

We have a separation agreement which sets out the terms of the payments - is it even worth pursuing this with a lawyer at this time? He says he will not provide evidence that he has lost his job so i dont believe him.

Feel so annoyed that he slips under the radar every time!

Can you phone his workplace? The place is either open or not.

He has found a way to emotionally blackmail you and your dd. Or is this a way to wriggle out of handing over money?
Can you email the relevant solicitor about the case? Explain briefly the new situation. Forward the email?

Perhaps he is using the virus situation to flout the court order?
Can you assure your dd that you will both manage without his money( a white lie) and you would never push her to see her dad?
I cannot imagine how awful this is for her.

Thanks for your advice willow.
He is an accountant (!) but tells me that his linkedin profile is out of date and that the company listed hasnt been his employer for a while - however good shout, I will definitely try and give them a call today.

I will email a solicitor also - its just that the agreement was drawn up in scotland and we now live in England so I wasnt sure which legal system was the correct one!

Yes, I feel really frustrated about this however maintaining calm for DD is the most important thing Sad

It’s the business time of the year for accountants due to the self employed in the construction industry doing their tax returns so they get a rebate
