Who fancies a children's book identification challenge?!

It's a children's book, probably from the 70s; there is a little girl who goes round the forest looking for sleeping animals, and holds a jar to their face to collect "Sleepo" (or Sleep-o). There is a 'naughty' character who goes round waking up the animals and collects "Wake-o" in the same way from them as they wake up.

No idea what the actual storyline was!

Does it ring any bells with anyone?

Also - one where a girl wants to put on a neighbourhood show, and no one turns up - she sings "On the sunny side of the street" at the show. I think I remember an image of her on some outdoor cellar doors. Bonus points for that one Grin

it's one of the books in the "tree that sat down"/"stream that stood still" series but not sure which one.
theres a trial at one point where a toad says "swelpmigod"

It's The Tree That Sat Down by Beverley Nichols.

The Stream That Stood Still has the toads, it's the sequel starring the children of the girl from the first book.
