To think our welfare system is not as generous as people believe?

UK does not even make the top 10 in Europe let alone the world.

I know friends in Italy and France who say the system is much better than the UK. You do get a minority who abuse the system but that happens everywhere even in countries like France, Sweden and Norway. But the majority are legitimate and want to work and the system should not penalise others because of a minority.

But, I think you're probably still correct, that it's not as generous as in Italy and France - but many more people abuse the system in those countries. I think it should be more generous, but still have the vigorous checks that are in place now. I personally know several people who used to abuse it that now can't.

I disagree, ours is very generous. People can choose not to work or do a few hours. That’s not a welfare system but paying for people’s choices.

There had to be a cap put on of £25k didn’t there so that’s a whole lot of money for not working.
