Just found an old christmas present, a tub of hotel chocolat salted caramel hot chocolate. The date on it is 01/20, would you drink it? Will the quality be badly affected??

It'll be fine, it's hardly any time at all.

justanotherneighinparadise · 14/04/2020 08:33

Damn right I’d drink that 🤭

fluffiphlox · 14/04/2020 08:33

The only time I take any notice of best before dates is meat products.

I think that happens to chocolate over time. I'd eat it, it's going to be mostly sugar which is a preservative anyway.

OnlyJudyCanJudgeMe · 14/04/2020 08:46

You’re fine, it’s just bloomed.

saraclara · 14/04/2020 08:46

Yep, it's just some of the sugar coming to the surface

fluffiphlox · 14/04/2020 08:49

Bloom.

ShakespearesSisters · 14/04/2020 09:14

I found a bar of milk "cooking" chocolate in the back of our cupboard, used it to make chocolate nests. BBE june 2018. All fine.
No way I'd waste hotel chocolate chocolate.
