I know we are not in normal times but we've received mail today and 'normal' tv is on.
Is bank holiday cancelled?

It's definitely a bank holiday in England

PotteringAlong · 13/04/2020 11:56

No, it’s still a bank holiday

Lordfrontpaw · 13/04/2020 11:59

Feels like most days to me (and I’m working from home just now!)

Lots of businesses/services that are allowed to open are open today- the butchers and the GP is open here.

Postal workers are working on a bank holiday to help clear backlogs caused by higher than normal volumes of mail and a shortage of staff available to deal with it.

Likethebattle · 13/04/2020 13:18

Yep a bank holiday in Scotland meant to be but my wages have just gone in. Good Friday is not a holiday in Scotland but a lot of workplaces honour it.

YeOldeTrout · 13/04/2020 13:44

I don't believe in holidays any more. They are fairy tales like the Easter bunny.

bigchris · 13/04/2020 13:46

Yes it's a bank holiday but to help with the chaos the doctor is open, the register office is open, bins are being collected and the postie is delivering

TudorRoses · 13/04/2020 13:46

Yes, it is a bank holiday in England today.

Windyatthebeach · 13/04/2020 13:46

Tbh have long since lost track of days....
Is it Monday???

PheasantPlucker1 · 13/04/2020 13:48

Its still a bank holiday, but Ive spent the morning online teaching. I even offered the kids a day off, but they chose not too as they had nothing else to do!

ScrapThatThen · 13/04/2020 13:55

OP you just gave me a panic that I should have been working today. Phew.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 13/04/2020 13:58

Yes, but many front line services have cancelled them, DSis is a teacher and is in work with the children of key workers.

The information is carried on lots of social media, your local COVID support group, Facebook, will let you know about the services in your area.
