Have you given up caffeine? If so, is it worth it?

I would like to give up caffeine because of a stomach condition which is not helped by it (GORD). I had no coffee and tea yesterday and my god, the headache!!! Unbelievable. It’s still here today and it´s making me want to go back on it just to relieve it.

If you’ve given caffeine up, was it worth it? Some people apparently feel much better and clear headed. How long did your withdrawal symptoms last? Also, I love hot drinks, what can I drink now instead of tea and coffee?

I tried cold turkey from 12-15 mugs per day and was rattling like a junkie. Cold sweats joint pains and the mother of all headaches.
I decided that cutting down was the better option and I've gradually over the last year got myself down to 4 mugs per day now. 2 for breakfast, 1 at lunch and 1 at bedtime. I can still fall asleep without problem and I must admit that I'd really miss the flavour of my coffee. Its my hug in a mug. Brew

leg pains might be because you are drinking more water?? When I first low carbed I drank loads of water and it flushes all sorts out of your system..good and bad, and someone told me leg pains/cramps were down to that

Hi
Well done for sticking with it. Don't give up now. If you're on day 5, then the headaches will be ending any day now.
I didn't have any muscle aches myself - just the headaches. Maybe it depends how much you usually drink before you give up.
