Opinions on taking kids for a kick about on village green?

Is it acceptable to take my kids to play football on our village green providing no one else is around (very quiet village), day for 30 minutes?

These reasons are exceptions - even when doing these activities, you should be minimising time spent
outside of the home

This is a part people keep ignoring.

There is not 'no' risk with being outside. There is 'less' risk

However, if you're taking your kids out to 'exercise' anyway, it makes no odds if they're walking/cycling/kicking a ball around.

You sound sensible enough to be considerate, not suddenly be out for hours daily or allow others to join in, so I think it's fine. I'm enjoying seeing the families trying to keep up some fun/enjoyment/fresh air, for the kids whilst not ignoring the rules. (I can see the park from my house)

Yes if its just your own children and noone outside of the household then this can be your exercise and its fine. More than fine. We need to keep a sense of normality for children

Maybe the walk/run/cycle is a suggestion because of the constant movement and stops 'congregating'. Just a thought!!

I'd say as long as it's your own family and no one else congregates to watch/play with, you are fine. The heavy handed interpretation of the guidelines has come about because of groups who think they don't apply to them, so Teenager Tim and his mates, who all told their parents they were going for a walk but made arrangements to meet up for a kick about. They are the people ruining it for the families who genuinely have no intention of socialising outside of their nuclear family.

isn’t that what Boris Johnson said in his initial broadcast? Thats where I’ve got it in my head from. Happy to be corrected if I’m wrong

What he said in his initial broadcast doesn't really matter because it didn't match the regulations - eg he made a complete arse of the rules about going to work.

Someone has helpfully posted the actual rules upthread and according to those, a kickabout on the village green is allowed.
