Would you go for a smear test at the moment?

I’ve had a smear test booked in for the last 2 months and the appointment is next week. I thought it might have been cancelled but given they haven’t contacted me I’m assuming it’s going ahead. I really can’t decide if I should cancel. On one hand smears are really important and who knows how long this will go on for so if I cancel I could end up being overdue by 6 months. On the other hand, unless the nurse attaches the speculum to the end of a broom stick, she’s going to have to get very close!

I know doctor’s surgeries are taking lots of precautions - DS had his immunisation boosters the day schools closed and they called me the day before to check we were symptom free - but I’d rather not be at a doctors surgery at the minute unless urgent. What would others do?

I called the day before mine a couple of weeks ago and they said it was all fine to go ahead. Then I got a text message 2 hours later saying it was cancelled. Worth a call the day before to check, but they may not know until just before if it can go ahead or not. I'm on yearly smears for abnormal cells so I'd 100% go if I could, it's stressing me out that I've no idea when I can get checked and something sinister could be going on in there!!

Yes I would still go if surgery were still doing them.
