Games you can play on your own- any recommendations?

It’s MIL’s birthday next month and I’d like to send her something if it’s still possible by then!

I thought about Genius Square which we took up at Xmas and she loved but I don’t know if she’d think to play it on her own. She’s isolated with grumpy FIL who wouldn’t play anything with her so ideally I’d like a good 1 player game.

She’s a fan of solitaire, colouring and puzzle books etc

If anyone has any recommendations they’d be very welcome Smile

Does she have a tablet?

My MIL doesn't have internet at her place but she does have a tablet we bought her two years ago for Christmas. She gives it to us occasionally and we download games for her so she can play off-line. She has all sorts of things on there and absolutely loves it.

Not sure if it's her cup of tea but you can get tablets for less than £100 if she'd be interested :)

Does she like jigsaw puzzles?

Mahjong ... I play online you can download it it's free.

You can buy sets, although they look expensive.

Would she be interested in one of those retro handheld gaming consoles - I've got a Sega one and they come with multiple games loaded on, just switch on and play.

There's a game with a ping pong ball on a springy wire that is pretty good on your own (although ruined by small child), not sure what it's called though.

Thanks everyone!
She does have a tablet although isn’t very tech savvy.

I’ll have a look at some nice jigsaws and will look up mahjong @ImaginaryFriends, thank you.

I don’t think a video game would appeal but thank you @Pelleas Smile

I can imagine her driving FIL absolutely mad with one of those ping pong bats @CrocodileFondue Grin

If she likes puzzle you're games then have a look at rush hour and search for "single player" games here

Candy Crush?

BlueBrush · 07/04/2020 20:02

This is a sort of logical puzzle game called Rush Hour that gets really good reviews - it's a physical game rather than an electronic game. This company make loads of different similar games. I've got one and really enjoyed it, but don't get time to play it!
